The Nikkei Student Union of UCLA (NSU) serves the community and addresses Japanese American issues. More than anything, NSU is about family. The organization is made up of students who are Issei, as well as Yonsei. There are Hapas, multi-racial and multi-ethnic JAs. There are also several members who are not Japanese at all. The group reflects the great diversity in the greater JA community. D,V.
REEL NIKKEI STORIES A Nikkei Family Legacy Project
REEL NIKKEI STORIES is a project of the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California (JCCCNC) designed to teach young Nikkei about Japanese American history by empowering them with the confidence, the training and the tools to interview, permanently document and share the untold stories of their Nisei relatives. REEL NIKKEI STORIES offers training toolkits, workshops and a website to assist individuals interested in collecting their families’ oral histories.
Create your family legacy project now and you can enter to win prizes for your REEL NIKKEI STORIES project in the mini-film festival held in June 2009.
